Senior Software Engineer (Portal)

Position Description

Provide Portal Architecture and Development for a Fortune 15 company. A candidate for this role should have experience with at least 2 software development cycles. It is a requirement to have worked in a production environment. This person will work in a team environment along with other technical team members supporting applications. This person will work extensively with other internal business units, and will mentor existing associates. Hence, it is required to have strong interpersonal, communication, customer focus and leadership skills.
Responsible for portal architecture and development to include: portal SW, Web content management, enterprise search, mobility, Identity Management, Single Sign-On, directory, CRM, knowledge management, E-Commerce, and Web Service integration capabilities. Leads complex SW architecture designs endorsing standards, oversees all portal SW development efforts, serves as principle subject matter expert for security and compliance audits, manages and aduits source code controls, and serves as lead diagnostician for tier 3 support. Responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating Web technologies in support of internal functional areas including sales & marketing. Configures portlets, portal pages, content management systems, portal dashboards and integration points exposing content from disparate systems. Manages application lifecycle from design through testing and deployment. Develops conversion and system implementation plans. Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation. Recommends changes in development, maintenance, and system standards. Trains users in conversion and implementation of system.

Minimum Requirements

6+ years experience in programming on enterprise or department servers or systems
2 + projects through the full system development lifecycles to a Production environment
2 + years of development experience using a Java based Portal tool suite
3+ years of development on Windows Server environment (Windows 2000 and above)
3+ years of J2EE experience in technologies like: Java, Servlets, JSP, JDBC, JNDI, Web Services
2+ years of experience with BEA Weblogic application server 6.0 and above
3+ years of web development including HTML, JavaScript, CSS
3+ years of experience with XML and XSL
2+ years of operational experience with IIS (5 and above)
2+ years of experience with SQL databases, including sound knowledge of SQL
Experience using one of the following Java integrated development environments: NetBeans, Eclipse, or Jdeveloper.
Experience in developing JSR 168 compliant portlets integrating into back end systems

Additional Knowledge & Skills

2 + years of development experience using Vignette Application Portal (V 4.5 and above)
Knowledge of Vignette Content Management V7 and integrating it with the Vignette Portal
Experience integrating the Vignette Portal with CA / Netegrity Siteminder, and LDAP
Experience in implementing Portlet security using dynamic groups based on user profile
Experience with Web Services
Experience with WebLogic Server 8.1
Operating knowledge of search engines - preferably Google and/or Autonomy
Operating knowledge of LDAP, and Windows 2003 Server
Experience in web analytics tool such as Webtrends
Knowledge around configuration management using tools such as CVS
Basic knowledge of Database Modeling using tools such as ER Win
Knowledge or aptitude for other Java based Portal tools such as BEA WebLogic Portal, IBM WebSphere or SAP Portal.

Qualified candidates will also possess the following skills:
Work with customers to design new or modify existing portal content and/or Intranet applications to meet requirements
Responsible for product installs, upgrades, patches, configurations using strict change control procedures.
Develop test scripts, configuration management techniques and documentation
Ability to design, implement, debug and execute solutions that meet specifications.
Ability to understand and effectively utilize the technical development environment
Minimum 2 years of experience in structured analysis and systems design
Ability to function both as technical team member and technical team leader
Effective analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to prioritize/communicate conflicting demands
Strong external/internal design, analysis and debugging skills
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills

Education

BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems
