Position Description

The Managed Services Organization's SystemCare support organization is looking for talented Windows/SQL Administrators to help service a clinically-focused customer base. The Windows/SQL Administrator will support critical patient care systems by providing proactive database administration, communicating with a defined customer base and addressing reactive needs. This position requires experience with SQL2005 and SQL2008 environments.

The ideal candidate will have in a 24x7 highly available, on-call Windows environment. In addition, this candidate will have a demonstrated ability to install and configure SQL on Windows platforms, establish basic security settings, understand basic HW configuration, provide assistance with diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:
Provides maintenance and administration of Windows Server and SQL Server side of OS layer
Fixes issues at OS and DBA level along with backup, restore, recovery, as well as performance turning and analysis
Full Lifecycle management of SQL Server implementations in a clustered/replicated/virtualized environment
Maintain database architectures and strategies to ensure performance, availability, integrity and security of client databases
Support database definition, structure, documentation, long range requirements, operational guidelines
Monitor and improve database performance and capacity utilization to provide high database availability and redundancy
Plan and execute future expansion requirements including installation, testing, upgrades and patches when needed
Manages system issues, upgrades, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and replication
Install, configure, upgrade, and manage SQL Server
Takes calls on the queue one day a week or more as required
Supports multiple customers and servers (up to 20 or more unique hospitals, up to 200 or more systems)
Prioritizes competing demands effectively
Provides on-call support on a rotating on-call basis (appx. 4 -5 weeks per year)
Learns relevant McKesson and some 3rd party applications and the impact to patient care

Minimum Requirements

4+ years experience with operating system administration, support, maintenance of SQL Server (2008, 2005) and Windows Server 7, 2008 r2 or NT, clustered environments, some Server 2003. SQL experience should include reindexing, server rebuild and maintenance. Experience in fixing complex issues at OS and DBA level along with backup, restore, recovery, as well as performance turning and analysis is required.

The candidate should demonstrate a detailed knowledge of Microsoft Windows and SQL database definition, structure, documentation, long range requirements, operational guidelines and protection strategies. Must have strong team focus, customer service, work ethic and excellent communication skills.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

Clustered SQL server experience is a plus
Disaster Recovery experience - backup recovery, scheduling and configuring SQL backups to disk.
Hardware (HW) configuration a plus
Familiarity with SAN environments a plus- multipathing, LUN sizing, HBA Cards and Drivers as examples.
Experience working with 3rd party vendors such as EMC VMWare, Microsoft to open and troubleshoot issues a plus
Familiarity with VMWare 4.x, configuring / installation / troubleshooting a plus

Education

4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience

Certifications/Licensure

MSCE and/or MCDBA preferred
