Annually, the united network of more than 9,000 physicians, clinicians, nurses, and administrators delivers integrated cancer care to more than 850,000 cancer patients in community-based clinics located in 41 states.<br/><br/>Position Description<br/><br/>Performs any combination of following duties to assist Pharmacist in hospital pharmacy or retail establishment: mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tables and capsules, and types labels for bottles. Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication. Receives and stores incoming supplies. Counts stock and enters data in compute to maintain inventory records. Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to hospital patient, compute charges, and enters data in computer. Prepares IV (intravenous) packs, using sterile technique, under supervision of hospital pharmacist. Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods. Types and files reports, and completes formed as directed. Assists in stocking shelves, checking prices and maintaining inventory. With minimal supervision, responsible for record keeping and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist. Supports and adheres to the McKesson Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Specific state law may regulate that only licensed individuals perform compounding or mixing responsibilities. As a result, certain incumbents are prohibited from said tasks.<br/><br/>-Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a registered pharmacist.<br><br/>-Checks all orders for completeness of information. <br><br/>-Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.<br><br/>-Under a professional's supervision, admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines, and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.<br><br/>-Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents. Maintains indigent patient drug program as needed.<br><br/>-Counts controlled drugs weekly and maintain records. Maintains current drug information and MSDS sheets. Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs.<br><br/>-Cleans hood daily as stated in policy and procedures. Logs and dates all drugs that are being used. <br><br/>-Checks drugs monthly for outdates. Keeps accurate temperature logs. Keeps accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs. <br><br/>-Maintains proper control documentation of medications, including lot numbers and all other quality assurance activities.<br><br/>-Complete inventory control of medications. Orders supplies and medicationsin accordance with targeted optimal turnover rates. Receives and shelves medications. Ensures that standard drug supplies are in adequate supply in all departments.<br><br/>-Prepares labels. Files and prepares billing.
