Senior Purchasing Manager

Our IT segment provides service and support for more than 2,400 systems in independent, chain, hospital, clinic and nursing-home pharmacies across the country. We work hard so that pharmacists can spend their time on patients - not paperwork. Our Center for Financial Services plays a critical role in ensuring that hospitals, pharmacies and retail chains receive pharmaceutical products quickly - usually within 24 hours. Our entire team works to ensure patients receive their medications efficiently and begin the process of healing.
Position Description
Provide day-to-day work coordination and direction to employees for all aspects of Supply Chain Services, including: replenishment buying activities; managing inventory levels; and supplier relationships (negotiations, supplier and item profitability, service level, product availability, long-term forecasting and product return activity). Point person for supplier issues for purchasing, accounts payables, business information systems and EDI. Collaborate with other McKesson purchasing teams (Fee for Service, Product Mgmt, etc.) to enable McKesson to maximize inventory-buying opportunities to achieve EBIT and ROCC. Organize supplier meetings to address operational issues, review and update supplier scorecards, and follow up on issues and actions that have been identified. Assist the Vice-President of Inventory Management and Sr. Director of Supply Chain Services to develop new processes for inventory/replenishment buying segments that maximize buy profits. Responsible for attracting, developing and retaining high performance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-day management of all buying activities in support of customer service levels. Meet or exceed defined service levels that directly influence the department¿s achievement of targeted financial goals. Direct and manage the activities of Buyers and Expediters with overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, and managing employee work efforts.
Team with the Vice President and Sr. Director of Supply Chain Services to develop goals, objectives and measurements for department performance, to ensure alignment with the Pharmaceutical strategic business goals.
Prioritize work efforts to focus on highest value-added activities. Point person for escalated issues with supplier, service levels, inventory levels, etc. Proactively analyze and intercede in supplier relationships and the comprehensive buying process.
Continually enhance and maintain relationships with existing suppliers, and monitor supplier scorecard information and negotiate business changes as needed. Coordinate multifunctional supplier meetings to update scorecards, develop actions and follow up on actions.
Coach and develop staff in order to maintain a productive and motivated workforce. Champion new initiatives and act as a catalyst for change.
Maintain a strong working relationship with Product Management teams for Rx, Generic, and non-Rx products, fee for Service, and other Purchasing groups to streamline investment-buying opportunities, while facilitating and improving channels of communications.
Coordinate development and roll out of new or updated McKesson policies, such as vendor returns, terms changes and contract roll product cleanup.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum 5 years related experience in inventory management or purchasing with a healthcare, distribution, retail or grocery business. Strong analytical skills and thorough knowledge of advanced purchasing systems such as Score, DPR, E3, K3 or JDA. Two years or more of full scope management experience is required.
