Software Engineer (Java)

Current Need
Responsible for the analysis, design, programming, debugging and modification of local, network or internet-related computer programs for commercial or end user applications such as materials management, financial management, HRIS or desktop applications products. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications using current programming language and technologies. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interface with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-Reviews, and challenges functional requirements
-Develops and implements technical requirements
-Quickly acquire and leverage business domain knowledge to bring clarity to business and system requirements. Applies specialized knowledge in a broad spectrum of technology areas including technology trends, current industry standards, new products and the latest solution development techniques
-Must be willing to incubate new ideas and technologies by writing prototypes and developing patterns.
-Participates and challenges impact analysis, work breakdown, and estimation based on business requirements
-May participate in decision matrices and buy vs. build analyses
-Documents system architecture:
-Implementation/Component model
-Deployment model
-Interface specifications
-System flow diagrams
-Namespace/Package structure
-May write design documentation
-May write code or work with engineers to model patterns
-May participate in research and evaluation of third party and internal software for inclusion in product
Minimum Requirements
-Requires 4+ years of experience in technical system design or software engineering
-Experience in Java and C#
-Object-Oriented analysis and design
-Client-server and n-tier concepts
-Knowledge and application of a variety of design patterns
-Experience in full life cycle system development including: design, building, testing, deployment, upgrade and support
-Intimate knowledge of formalized software development processes (Agile, Waterfall, RUP) and their trade-offs
-Knowledgeable about application integration technologies including messaging and web services
Additional Knowledge & Skills

-Experience with offshore development
-Experience using C++ and VB
-Healthcare Industry experience
-UML modeling experience using a modeling tool like Rational Rose or Enterprise Architect
-Database architecture, design, development, and optimization using MS SQL Server
