Current Need
McKesson currently has a new medical coder opportunity! This full-time multi specialty surgery coder position will be located onsite at our client location at Cook County Health & Hospital System, 1900 West Polk, Chicago, IL 60612.
Position Description
As a certified medical coder with McKesson, you will be responsible for coding multiple specialty surgery cases, using CPT4 and ICD-9 and knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy. Specifically, you will:
--Code and enter data from hard copy or image copy.
Minimum Requirements
--5+ years work experience and leadership skills;
-- Minimum 6 months medical coding experience required, including previous multi specialty surgery coding experience in 3 or more specialties
; 10,000 Alpha Numeric and Numeric keying speed required.
--National coding certification preferred (CPC or CCS)
--Medical terminology and human anatomy
--Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT4
--Candidate must pass Internal Certification (SCC) Test
Additional Knowledge & Skills
May also fill in for Supervisor in their absence. Must be organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task efficiently and work well with others;
--This position requires excellent overall knowledge of coding. They will help train and/or check work of level 1 coders and answer questions of other coders.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
